It's day 26 of the Birthday Month and time for something a little more advanced for more advanced student. A palindrome is a word or phrase that reads the same backwards as it does forwards. For example, if you write "taco cat" backwards (with the letters still the same way round) you get "tac ocat". If you then rearrange the space you get "taco cat"!
The Taco Cat worksheet works well as a warmer and gets your students to think about the words they write and their spelling. Your students should work individually, or together, to solve the palindromes. They have to fill in the missing letters, and hence words, to complete the palindrome sentences. They have part of the sentence so if they think carefully they can just copy the letters on the other side of the sentence.
It isn't easy and shouldn't be attempted by lower level students, but should work really well with higher level ones.
