Takeaway Tuesday #12, #13 and #14

Takeaway Tuesday #12: Light Up

Light Up is a "Rube Goldberg" game that involves your students moving a light bulb to light up the darkened screen.

Use it as a reward for good behaviour or language production. Once the students have produced the language (or behaviour) you want them to, have a student come to the computer and click the space bar, mouse button or screen (for an interactive whiteboard) and watch as the process of moving the light bulb continues.

Takeaway Tuesday #13: eBay Page

A blank eBay page is great to help your students to write descriptions of products that already exist or that your students have invented.

Have them include a picture of the product, its condition, the postage fees and then a description of the product. And remember, they re trying to sell it, so they need to keep it positive and sound amazing.

Takeaway Tuesday #14:  Right or Wrong

Right or Wrong is a board game to get your students talking. It works for teens and adults alike.

Have each student roll the dice, move their counter and answer the question in as much detail as possible. For extra practice, you can have them discuss with the rest of the class and ask them additional questions (if you want).
