Takeaway Tuesday #9: Drinking Jar
Drinking Jar is a PowerPoint based score game.
Once one of your students has produced the language you have asked them to, or have behaved in a way that you feel needs rewarding, tap the space bar and the water will flow through the pipes and into the jar. Two taps of the spacebar will fill one of the five jars.
Once all five jars are filled, five elephants will appear and proceed, again with taps of the space bar, to drink the water. Once all five jars are empty, the game is complete.
I would suggest having various rewards available for the various stages of the game.
Takeaway Tuesday #10: See No Speak No Hear No
See No Speak No Hear No is a dice and card based game that can be used as a warmer/ice-breaker or to practice new vocabulary.
You play it just like Taboo, with students picking a card and "describing" if for the other students to guess. The only difference is that the student who picks the card must also roll the dice. The dice decides how the student describes the word they have picked.
If the dice lands on "See No", they student must describe the war using only words and sounds.
If the dice lands on "Speak No", the student must describe the word only using actions.
If the dice lands on "Hear No", the student must describe the word using only drawings.
I have included instructions on how to play, plus two sheets of nouns and two of verbs to get you started. Feel free, of course, to add your own words.
Just remember, you have to make the dice and cut the cards.
