Teaching Phrasal Verbs could, potentially, be an endless series of dull, boring lessons. There are so many phrasal verbs in the English language (a quick google search will prove my point) that there is no way you could possibly teach each and every one of them.However, they remain an important part of our language, so teach them you must! And you all know I love a good board game to help my students practice what they have learnt in class. So, I came up with the phrasal web!
Each student starts on the black, start square and rolls the dice. If they get a six they can choose the middle path, if not they can go either left or right. Which ever path they choose each time, they must use the phrasal verb in a sentence. For example, if the square has "turn" and the arrow has "off" they have "turn off" and the sentence would be "could you turn off the lights?" They can only take the shorter, middle path if they roll a six!
It is, trust me, easier than it sounds! It's a great way for them to practice using some of the most common phrasal verbs in our language, ones they will hear time and time again.
